After our Anzac day debacle Tracy and I attempted (for the second time) to eat at 'The Stuffed Beaver' restaurant in Bondi which boasts a Canadian menu and vibe. We arrived and were greeted by a Canadian flag, a metal beaver and a waitress from Vancouver, we were off to a good start!
There wasn't really any question as to what we were going to order...
After noshing on that salty poutine and some deep fried pickles, hoisting the 'Stanley Cup' and reminiscing about home we were completely satisfied with our meal! (and ready for a big glass of water).
Through this experience, and talking about it with other people, I have learned that poutine really is a Canadian thing. American's don't know what it is but are very interested and Europeans think it is disgusting, Aussies are on the fence! I have also thought that besides the poutine and maybe beaver tails and maple syrup, I can't really come up with other traditional CANADIAN foods, help me out on this one folks? I guess multi-cultural Toronto and my taste for exotic cuisine has blurred my memory.
Unfortunately, they did not serve Timmies coffee, I will have to wait until touching down at Pearson for that taste to touch my lips again.
