Taronga Zoo

Just a 12 minute ferry ride from Circular Quay (better known as 'the place with the Opera House') lies Taronga Zoo. I had been itching to visit this attraction since stepping foot in Sydney, isn't it the cuddly Australian critters that draw us to coming down under? I had been waiting for beach-season to come to an end to make this trip because I knew I would need things to do when soaking in the rays was no longer an option without long sleeves and pants on. The time had come, yes we are well into Autumn and Lauren (North Carolina) and I couldn't be stopped from venturing across the harbour to putter around the zoo with all of the kids on a Friday afternoon.

We had a beauty of a day and arrived just in time to watch the giraffes getting fed! What bizarre animals those big guys are. I was ecstatic with our timing as I had heard rumours of the amazing views of the city that you could have from Taronga and I had seen pictures with giraffes in the foreground and the city skyline in the background which I desperately wanted to recreate. Here is what I was able to capture;

 Every time we turned a corner we got a new and spectacular view;

We were privy to some familiar...

...and not so familiar creatures...

...and I learned  that the excitement of seeing a kangaroo will never grow old and that platypus' still blow my mind!

Aussie animals, you never disappoint!
